Safe to save info on collegeboard EFC calculator?

I’ve been getting a bit paranoid about computer viruses, data breaches & identifty theft etc, so I just have to ask this:

Is it safe & secure for my kid to sign in to collegeboard and then save all the financial data that the EFC calculator asks for?
Would it be safer for me to do it without signing in so the data is not associated with identifying info?

Are there any better general EFC calculators to use (aside from the net price ones on school sites)

Thanks!

I understand your concerns, and actually made a “dummy” college board account just for this purpose! Used a cartoon character’s name, fictitious address, etc. Just make sure you keep a record of the fictitious name (and password) you used! :)

Entering the data without logging in will cost you many wasted hours - it’s just not worth it!

I actually tried hypothetical numbers several times. It is anonymous and my info would be mostly useless for anyone as I have tried a wide range of numbers.

Thanks @dodgersmom!
I will do what you did and make a dummy account. Better for my peace of mind.

@billcsho - good to know - some info I don’t really have on hand at them moment I can just guess, I guess. ;)
