safest way to get from point A to B

<p>Hi everyone, </p>

<p>Does anyone who lives in the Los Angeles area know the best way for a Scripps girl to travel to UCLA for the weekend to visit her friend? She is planning on taking the train from Claremont to Union Station but wasn’t sure whether to take the bus (cheap) or a taxi (costly) from there to UCLA. She’ll be travelling on Friday evening arriving at Union Station at 8pm. </p>

<p>Thanks Musica. I was thinking more about safety - she’s got a level head but wondering about the safety of taking the bus from Union Station at 8pm at night . . .</p>

<p>If she does not feel “safe” taking the bus, then she can take the Red Metro line, get off at Hollywood and Highland and take a taxi from there to UCLA.

<p>The Red Metro line departs from right in the station and pretty safe</p>

<p>D lives in Hollywood and takes the bus from Highland to UCLA all the time. (20-30 minute ride)</p>

<p>A taxi from Union Station to UCLA will cost a small fortune. Even from Hollywood and Highland it would cost a lot. </p>

<p>Suggestion, from Union Station take the Purple Metro line to Western and Wilshire exit (a major thoroughfare with plenty of traffic and pedestrians). Transfer to any of of 2 buses, the 20 or 720 (which travel West on Wilshire Blvd). Exit at Westwood Blvd. (UCLA is on Westwood Blvd about a mile North of Wilshire Blvd). Your D’s friend can meet her at the bus stop and they can walk in together (or if friend has a car she can pick up at bus stop). </p>

<p>As always, safety and being alert are key, no matter where or who you are. You sit close to the driver, ask the driver to tell you when you get to your stop, and no headphones. Read or just enjoy the sights.</p>

<p>But honestly, these are well traveled routes and should offer no problem for your D at all.</p>

<p>justamom’s option is the best. If she takes the metro to Hollywood, she will have to walk a block to the Sunset/UCLA bus.</p>
