I believe that parents need to be informed about the crime happening on campus. 3 shootings in one day! 09/19/24. Do your homework!
Buckeyes for a Safe Ohio State. Run by parents. Schools should support the safety concerns of students and parents.

That’s a private FB page, do you have another source?
I know one needs to look at how they measure but interestingly many schools kids would give an arm and a leg to attend are on the list.
We’ve talked about the Clery report on many threads (used for that ranking list you posted.) A few comments:
-Some schools encourage reporting of crimes against students, while others don’t. Some actively dissuade students to report crime…which type of school would one prefer their student attend? Obviously, the number of reported crimes is directly related to a given school’s safety policies and processes.
-The total number of crimes isn’t as meaningful as the rate of crime based on the size of student population. Take your pick if you want use total students, or just undergrads. Using undergrads, Ohio State crime rate/undergrad: 111/47000 = .002362, Stanford 55/8000 = .006875
I am not disputing that crime is happening on and off campus at Ohio State.
Here’s a local news article about the latest shooting which resulted in a shelter in place order.
FWIW, OSU was the one school that my D took off her list after visiting because she didn’t feel safe. Felt too big, too urban, and we saw people shooting up behind the student union before our tour. That said, at least 20% of her HS class went to OSU and most had a great experience.
This is a useful resource for students and parents.

Personally, I don’t sign up for the alerts (I attended in the 90’s so everything seems much safer compared to then), but I do read The Lantern’s crime section and I also refer to crime maps when helping to evaluate off campus housing options.

My son’s roommate was assaulted (“jumped”) by 7-8 people last night on Frambes Road near Waldeck. He was injured and sought medical care. My son said he is recovering and may have a concussion. A police report has been filed.

As an aside, unfortunately safety issues aren’t unique to tOSU. Concerned parents and prospective students can follow tOSU’s public safety page, read Clery reports and local news articles.
OP - Seems like you are very concerned about your child’s safety. Are they looking to transfer?
