Safety Issues in Columbia

Seven Students Assaulted Near Campus | Columbia Spectator

I know many of you are going to Columbia. Congratulations!

I graduated in 2008. The first priority in Columbia is NOT study, but SAFETY. Please read the news I posted.

There are too many safety issues on campus--basically the campus is always harassed by the "good" neighborhoods.

The University has been hiding the truth from the public, students and faculty. Most of the graduates who worked for the security team would tell you the truth.

For example, the news "Seven Student Attacked ON campus" was revised three times. First time, they removed the fact that all seven were Asians. Second, the removed the fact that criminals were ALL African Americans. At last, they DELETED the news from website.

Fortunately, I have saved the document in PDF formate. Welcome to request.

I posted this not because I hated Columbia. I think Barack Obama hates Columbia. I just don't want to see the same tragedies happened again and again.

Please make sure you attened the Security Workshop by the Public Security Department. They at least tried to provide the security tips when facing the criminals--it is effective, believe me. Otherwise one of you here will get yourself killed--because we have such incredible neighbor.

If I were a father, I wont send my kids to Columbia--that's for sure.

They also hid another fact: the lady who was attacked was also being sexsually offended, seriously, by two young African American boys.

uhm... what in god's name is wrong with you?

and your command of the English language?

I am a junior at Columbia.

Looking for info on getting into Columbia Law.

Who are these aholes who claim to be graduates with thousands and thousands of posts? (Denzera and Columbia 2002)

Wow ... what a sad reflection on Columbia.

What arrogance ... what a ton of time they have on their hands.

Hey, for a real look at Columbia, believe me, most people don't have this kind of time or need for condescension.

Most of my friends have cool internships and busy lives... I don't know anyone with this kind of time and ahole approach.

I totally apologize for these jerks with two and three thousand posts.

This is truly an anomaly. I promise!

hey everyone, I apologize for this post^ if it is in fact written by a columbia student, which it might not be.

I am a columbia student (as evidenced by my knowledge of stuff that happens here) from previous posts

Denz and C-02 are valuable additions to this board, C-02 sometimes not so much, but on balance this board would be worse off without them. I have actually met denz in real life and he is everything that you make a columbia student out to be. He has a pretty cool job (i think) and a busy life, he just cares enough to write about columbia, because he is proud to have gone here, and wants to spread knowledge to naive (and not so naive) high schoolers.

That's sort of why a lot of us are here, we don't spend much time on this site, just periodically make additions as a form of procrastination.

Do a bit of background research before you rant, or if you are joking be funnier next time.

hi Andi!

Tonight, after working from home and playing a little mario kart in between conference calls for client sales proposals, I took a beautiful Penn girl to dinner and then we went to a comedy club. Tracy Morgan from 30 Rock came by, decided the dorky white guy who was on stage at the moment wasn't as funny as him, walked up, and took the mic from him and proceeded to tell us how it is for a full hour. Damn near fell out of my chair. Tomorrow I will wake up at 8, go run a road race with NYRR, work on my business school applications, go to karate for 3 hours (come join us! it'll be fun!), and then decide between two parties i've been invited to. Maybe I'll just hang out with my friend from boston who's visiting this weekend. Not sure. how's your weekend look?

oh right, why I post on this board. well, anyone who could work a search function could probably find my past posts on the matter, but in this particular case, let me assure you - I love my school, love my fellow classmates I met there, and want to see it continue to do well, not that it needs my help. I feel the same kind of pride, as an alum, that the marching band kids felt while they were still students - although I still don't go to the games :)

So, as Confidentialcoll indicates, yeah, I'm trying to help other people out. I had a very VERY nontraditional path to coming to columbia, and ideally I'd like to help other kids who are in the position I was in, to help them avoid my mistakes.

Maybe that's self-centered of me. Maybe that makes me "condescending". Perhaps, as you claim, I have no life. I'd certainly love to hear about yours, since I'm sure from the sound of it you must be rolling with movie stars and having to brush ladies off your arms with a Taser.

Well, don't tase me bro, I'm just doing the best I can. And right now, the best I can is to not stumble on my way to my bed, one bottle of wine into the evening. Okay, one and a half.

Hey, I'm a female. Checking in after finals. Did this last Christmas too.

Thought you were a jerk then.

Looks like you are still a jerk.

Remember, you jumped me for NOT be a REAL Columbia student?

Hey, I'm for real ... just don't have the need to put high school students down ---

BUT YOU AND COlumbia 2002 and your arrogance ... yeah, you are still fair game.

I've had a great year ... and if you really want to HELP ... then why are you still being a condescending jerk???????????

Now, my little brother is in. ... want to challenge that one as well?????/

Help people, cool, cut the condescension.

That was my point last year after finals when I checked in ... that's my point this year.

Nothing changes.

Oh, yeah, so impressed with your 'life' bro.

And with your do good posts.

Seems like your posts are more self serving and condescending than helpful.

Cannot believe one year later and you are still pulling the same old tired c-r-a-p.

Guess I'll check back next Christmas -- will you ever get over trying to impress HIGH SCHOOL KIDS on the one hand and putting them down on the next.

Remember that arrogant post last year -- you deigned to advise college students that a REAL night on the town could be had for $100.00 and it would be difficult to do it for less???????????

Give me a break.

BIG MAN ON CAMPUS?????????

We are all real impressed with your story about a date.

My whole post was designed to set up the "don't tase me bro" joke. Whether you are male or female was really immaterial.

I'm rather confident that if you set up a poll of people on this board and asked them "Is Denzera more helpful than annoying, or more annoying than helpful?", about 99% of them would say they appreciate what I bring to the table here.

I'm also reasonably certain you have me confused with someone else, since I've never claimed anything like what you say, "you deigned to advise college students that a REAL night on the town could be had for $100.00 and it would be difficult to do it for less". It's hard for me to understand your use of the term "self-serving", since really, posting here just takes time away from other things I could be doing, like making money or drinking. The only reason I do it is to help prospective (And sometimes current) students.

You claim you are a Columbia student. Fine. If so, we'll welcome your contributions around here, but since we have a lot of posers on this board, please just permit me a quick inquiry to validate your claims.

Answer ANY TWO of the following, and I'll believe that you attend (or have recently attended) Columbia:

1) As you walk into the Engineering library, in which direction is the check-out and reference desk?

2) How can you tell whether you're allowed to play sports on South Lawn or not, on any particular day?

3) From the sidewalk on Riverside Drive, there is an entrance to the "park" part of Riverside Park at 116th st, and another at 115th st. Where is the next one south of that?

4) Since the main entrance to East Campus is from an elevated courtyard, how do students who live there get their stuff in every fall, and get it out every spring?

Yours in Christ,
D

"We are all real impressed with your story about a date."

Maybe you and Columbia2002 should hook up. You're both desperately in need of companionship.

"you deigned to advise college students that a REAL night on the town could be had for $100.00 and it would be difficult to do it for less"

Denzera is the absolute last person who would say this.

"Help people, cool, cut the condescension"

What about you? You're having a hissy fit. Online. You and C02 should DEFINITELY hook up.

LoL, well played.

andi!, you're amusing, i've never seen someone play Monday morning quarterback quite like you are.

if you are in fact a columbia student, and are actually serious in your posts, I'm amazed, I'm surprised we haven't bumped into each other, you would have been unforgettable.

i've never seen someone less in doubt and more often in error than I usually am, wow, we should get dinner sometime ;)

Man, I look at this thread and I see so many redeeming defects. A lot of predators and victims.

Can't we all just admit that we each have our own uniquely identifying personality flaws and leave it at that? Here, I'll sum it up:

Columbia2002 and Denzera are arrogant; andi! is bitter; I have social anxiety; and jedi980 is paranoid schizophrenic.

There. Can we all move on with our lives now?

woah! why haven't i noticed this....pretty funny stuff....

first about the orignial post...this jedi a-hole posted this BS a few wks back and the posts were deleted because they were stupid and racist...i won't report it this time because obviously noone is taking the post seriously and because this thread has become hilarious!

andi! ...did u seriously just come onto this forum to pick a fight with denzera over things he may or may not have said a year ago? ....at least the current students and alums who contribute to this board regularly contribute something of worth...if you are actually a columbia student then either post something useful or shut up and stop embarrassing yourself and our school!

denzera.... you act like its the first time someone has come here and flamed one of us for no good reason.... rather than wasting ur time creating a questionnaire you should laugh it off and move on. as they say....don't feed the troll!

....and a Penn girl eh? moving on from the barnard girls i see...congrats

disclaimer - i have nothing against barnard girls ...the last thing this thread needs is another one of those discussions

you may be right, Mr. F... and yet, the opportunity for comedy and fun presented itself.

besides, creating a questionnaire like that is an amusing thing to think about. Seriously, try to come up with a few questions that (1) only a Columbia sophomore or above would know, and know easily and offhand, (2) which aren't google-able, and (3) aren't so obscure or trivial that you might stump a legitimate student. It's tough!

I personally think it was inconsiderate of Denzera to post about his wonderful evening when he should have recognized that some of us on this forum don't have lives.

Effing consultant.

Takes one to know one.

hahahahah I can't believe you said don't tase me bro
oh ****

"Takes one to know one"

I'm not denying it.
