Hi everybody. Can you suggest a safety school for doing economics honors ? I am an international ( Indian) student. My SAT score is 2310. I don’t have very good ECs and I am not an athlete. Any advice where to apply?
Safety also means that the school is financially viable for you as well. Since you’re an international student, you will be given little aid so how much can your family pay for your college education?
Thanks rdeng2614 . I am not applying for financial aid as it decreases the chances of admission.
What is economics honors?
Penn state smeal college of business and temple fox school of business. Temple also gives great merit aid if your gpa is anywhere as good as your day score I think you already have full tuition
" I am not applying for financial aid as it decreases the chances of admission."
Simply applying for aid won’t decrease the chance of admission. What could decrease your chance of admission at a need-sensitive college or university would be if that institution determined that you needed more aid than it could offer.
If you don’t intend to apply for aid, then we need to know how much you can afford so we can recommend places that will be affordable for you. There is no sense whatsoever in expending your energy in completing applications to places that you know you flat-out can’t afford.
If you do not apply for aid and are admitted, you cannot apply for aid afterwards. I hope your family is rich.
What can your family afford?
Thanks everyone for the advice. My father is not very rich but he is prepared to send me to any college I can get.
Ohio Wesleyan University for Economics; but is it a financial safety for you? Other private colleges to consider are…
Worcester Polytechnic Institute
Beloit College
These public colleges could be safeties if you are a full pay applicant;
Indiana University (IN)
U of Washington-Seattle
George Mason University
U of South Carolina-Columbia
Miami University (OH)
Well, “not very rich” has very many meanings! We need an actual number, or a range, like 'up to …,000 dollars" or “a range of …-…K” in order to make useful suggestions.
Thank you for your advice. Shall apply to Wesleyan as safety.
That’s fine, so long as we’re talking about OHIO Wesleyan. The word, “wesleyan” in Anglo-American parlance denotes anything with a connection, either in the present or historically, to the Methodist religion. The Methodists were a prolific founder of American colleges and there are probably over a hundred institutions of higher education with the word, “Wesleyan” attached to them. Don’t mix them up with the one in Connecticut (the oldest one, and usually the only one referred to as just plain, “Wesleyan” outside its own vicinity) or you’ll be without a safety.
Thank you circuitrider. Will keep that in mind while applying .
