I’m an NJ resident. I just moved to America a little bit more than a year ago, so I started my junior year in America. I didn’t take any AP classes until my senior year because I didn’t know what they were. This year (my senior year) I’m taking AP Lit, AP Calculus AB, and AP Psych. I have a weighted and unweighted gpa of 3.98 out of a 4.0 scale.
Reading and writing: 600
Math: 660.
My SAT scores aren’t out for the recent one I took, and I’m hoping they’ll be better.
My Major: Psychology
Any suggestions for out-of-state safety schools for me? Thank you very much.
You are international? What is your visa status? You can be full pay? And you are a senior now? Are you classified as instate for tuition purposes even in NJ for fall admission?
Why do you think you are getting a GC in a month when you hadn’t even applied in August? Again, do you qualify for instate in NJ despite your visa status, and which visa are you on currently?
Rutgers and TCNJ are very good. I have worked and/or studied with multiple Rutgers graduates and have been quite impressed.
Your GPA is very good, even without AP classes. Your SAT is low for the very highly selective schools, but should be okay for many universities. I see from prepscholar that the average GPA for Rutgers is 1300. You are close to this, and your GPA should get you in safely.
What is your nationality? Do you want to attend university in the US? If you get your Green Card before you show up for classes then you should be good to apply and pay as a US permanent resident, which is the same (as far as I know) as a US citizen. However, depending upon your other citizenship it might or might not help for some universities outside of the US.
Given your SAT, it is hard to think of any large out of state safeties that are better than Rutgers. There are a number of smaller schools that are SAT optional, and a few that do not look at the SAT at all.
There is no safety if you are international needing financial aid.If you are unequivocally instate for NJ schools can you afford the full rates without financial aid or merit aid that may not be available to internationals?
