Safety/Targets for me please?

Hi guys

Looking for safety (40%+) and target (20 - 40%) schools.

Don’t want somewhere tiny, like a LAC
I want to major in CS so that I can pursue a career in Machine Learning, want to also minor in a science to do interdisciplinary work
So basically somewhere with a good CS major
Scores, GPA are perfect, ECs are okay
Prefer not to go somewhere in the middle of nowhere
Prefer a college with a defined campus
Good undergrad research opportunities

In your other thread you said you’re low income but your family owns a restaurant. If it’s your parents’ business, net price calculators won’t be accurate. Do you have a financial safety on your list?

My parents don’t own the restaurant, but I am looking into getting more scholarships.

In your other thread I see that you have high GPA and high SAT, but low income. As such, for you in finding a safety “affordable” is going to be as important or more important than “will get accepted”. However, planning on going into CS has the advantage that it is a very employable major, which means that a small amount of debt for undergrad is at least acceptable.

As far as I know the most important scholarships that you can get to make university affordable are the ones that you get directly from the university. Running the NPC should help a lot, as long as your parents are still married to each other and don’t own any small business or rental property. Many in-state public schools offer very good CS programs, but out of state public schools are likely to be unaffordable.

What state are you in, what is your EFC, and what can you actually afford?
