Safety Uni's - please advise

<p>I’m a freshman at the american university of beirut (cosnidered best uni in the Middle-East) and I need advice on which of the following universities I should apply for a transfer to AS A BACKUP if i wanna do engineering. (I’m gonna apply to Cornell or Penn as my main):
Boston University/University of Texas at Austin/Lehigh. Any other suggestions? (preferably private and i dont mind location)</p>

<p>My average in the first semester of uni is 91 (top 5%)
SAT: CR: 640 Math:700 Writing:700
SAT II: PHYS: 690 Math IIC:690 CHEM:730
Grades 11 and 12, I was 1st/35 with averages of 92, and 91.</p>

<p>I really don’t know about texas, but I think you have a great shot at Boston University. I think you’ll like it better in the East Coast, so as a safety I’d go to Boston.</p>

<p>I’m not sure American universities can really be safeties if you’re an international…</p>

<p>Especially not BU considering we have one of the largest int’l populations. Yes, we have good engineering. Also, AUB is the best in the middle east? I’m gonna call BS on that…</p>

<p>UMass Amherst has top notch engineering programs, especially in computer and chemical engineering.</p>
