Sailing into Swedish!</p>

<p>Sailing is a quintessential summer activity for Swedes, and now returning Sjölunden villagers may choose to participate in this adventure program which runs for three to four hours each day. The curriculum complements the regular Swedish instruction, but with an added focus on nautical terminology. Join us for the excitement of the Swedish Sailing School, only at Sjölunden! Offered during WB72, WB92 and WB74.</p>

<p>Activities</p>

<p>After an afternoon out on the lake, maybe in one of our new Sunfish one and two-person sailboats or just swimming at the beach, enjoy a hearty game of brännboll (Swedish baseball), fotboll (soccer), or kubb (a Viking game of lawn-bowling) with your friends!</p>

<p>Your day continues with activities such as kanot (canoeing), vävning (rugweaving), or a trip to the bastu (sauna). </p>

<p>You can try traditional dalmålning (folk painting) and folkdans (folk dancing), or rock to the latest Swedish chart tunes. We’ll celebrate Midsommar, have a Kräftskiva (crayfish party), and you can be part of our Nobel Middagen (Nobel Dinner).</p>

<p>Food</p>

<p>At mealtime you’ll love köttbullar (meatballs), västkustsallad (west coast salad), Ärtsoppa och Pannkakor (pea soup and pancakes), and, of course, Lussekatter (Lucia buns). </p>

<p>Sweden is an important player in modern Europe, and your Village experience puts you in touch with how Swedes influence important cultural, environmental and political issues facing our broader global community. The mix of native Swedes and American staff who have lived in Sweden keep activities and special events authentic and current. Välkommen till Sjölunden!</p>
