Anyone familiar with the preferred placement nursing program? I know you need to apply to the upper level classes and students enrolled in preferred placement as freshman have preference, but what does that mean? Are there requirements you need to meet to get acceptance or is it still somewhat random and not guaranteed if you hit the requirements? Only looking at others schools with direct entry but curious about this program.
AI says it means if you get a 2.75 gpa in pre reqs, you are assured admission to the upper division. But that’s AI - it can be wrong.

I’d suggest you clarify directly with the school.
“Preferred placement” is usually not the same as a guaranteed direct-entry nursing seat.
Direct entry / direct admit generally means: if youre admitted as a nursing major and you keep meeting the published GPA/prereq requirements, you keep your seat through the nursing curriculum.
Preferred placement often means: you’re favored or prioritized when the upper-division nursing cohort is selected, but you can still be denied (or delayed) if the cohort is capped or if you miss GPA/science thresholds. Exact wording matters — email Fisher nursing admissions and ask: “If my student is admitted under preferred placement and meets all listed requirements each year, is a nursing seat guaranteed, or is there still a competitive review?” Get the answer in writing.
Also ask what happens if they fall a few tenths short of the GPA line — remediation, one-time exception, or out of the track.
