Same sex non-romantic cohabitation

Has anyone thought of this?

What are the advantages? Simple. Sharing a building with someone else reduces costs. Moreover, two people are better than one in a lot of things. And there isn’t a possibility of the involvement of intense feelings that could trigger things like sexual jealousy or divorce or that sort of thing. The two people could just be close friends.

You mean… having a roommate?

My adult brother has a female roommate. She has a crush on him, but it’s okay, because he has other renters, too. And a girlfriend.

No, not a roommate - beyond that - as in - living in the same house as someone for, say, the rest of your life =P

Based on feelings of loyalty and non-romantic love

That ain’t cool. IMO. Disgusting actually.

That’s cool…I guess, what do I care? I plan on living alone anyway.

And I’ll end up living in a little condo someplace anyways so I’ll be sharing a building with other people regardless.

Problem with that is most people don’t want to “be alone” for the rest of their lives, they tend to move on. If you think this will be a forever deal, you probably will be upset when the roomie says I’m getting married! Then you are stuck with the bill!

^ Right. And who gets the toaster, etc.?

Well, most people do desire romantic relationships and, as a result, probably wouldn’t want to have a same sex, non-romantic roomate for the rest of their life. I know I wouldn’t. IMO, the benefits of a romantic relationship far outweigh the possible problems that could arise from one.
