Just one correction:
the SDSU local admission area is south of Hwy 52, not south of Hwy 56 which is about 15 miles north of the 52. For those of us living near the 52, that makes a huge difference. We are in the local admission area for San Marcos.
Does the border include west of the 5 as the 52 stops at the 5. Pacific beach/ Ocean beach?
Interesting, because SDSU Housing website says itâs Hwy 56.

Is the Housing border different than the Local Admissions border?
https://admissions.sdsu.edu/local-admissions-area
Doesnât look like it.
Most of them specified which they wanted (and we asked the college counselor where it was unclear). And theyâll all get the complete transcript, so I presume if they want to look at others ⊠theyâre there!
Thank you for the info!
I understand the OOS tuition differences. It is inevitable. I donât think that is the only reason my daughter got in though. I think they like to bring in a variety of students from all over to mix it up a little.
Agree. A school solely comprised of local kids is boring.
Do we get an email along with Portal update, if they released few last friday, hopefully some more tomorrow
My daughter received an email (that went straight to the spam folder) and it was in the portal. Good luck!
Today?
No, this was last Friday.
This was the case for
my daughter when she got hers last month as well. Email went to spam, but she found it through the SDSU portal. She was checking the CSU app page and didnât know initially that she had to look separately at each school for updates.
Daughter admitted for Art History on Feb. 2nd, but just opened admissions email today. 4.13 CSU gpa, 3 AP classes, 6 junior college classes. Northern CA. No big leadership positions, a few clubs. Probably wonât attend, as she wants to stay in Northern CA.
Is it odd to not hear anything from SDSU? Since creating portal back in October, no emails, nothing, crickets. Other schools send periodic emails about housing, come visit/tour school. My older DD is a student and was an early admit, so I donât know if this is normal, or if we missed a step.
My kid hasnât received anything at all since getting that first email after submission. I donât know if it is normal but in his experience some schools have sent lots of general emails and others donât send anything. He has some close friends who have also applied to SDSU. One got early admit and the other is in the same boat as my son. Iâm pretty sure he hasnât heard anything at all either.
I think it is normal. We havenât even been asked to set up a portal for some of the UCs (SB and LA). And we havenât really gotten anything from Cal POly SLO either.
Have your student check their spam folder for the UCSB portal info. Someone on the UCSB forum said that the email went out on January 9. UCLA doesnât have a portal like other schools do. You can check your UCLA admissions status here.
For Cal Poly SLO portal: https://www.calpoly.edu/applicant-first-time-account-activation
Same here. Other than portal setup, nothing.
