DD has an interview at 9am in San Jose. She will be driving in from Stockton. Google maps shows 1 hour twenty minutes and three different routes. Anyone from that area who can advise on what to really expect with traffic and which route might be better? Thanks in advance. M

If it is not tomorrow, she can take a look at [Sigalert.com Fairfax County Traffic Map](http://www.sigalert.com) during the time when she will be driving to see the traffic patterns. Google maps may be able to give an estimate in current traffic if she looks there at that time.

Traffic can be quite heavy on much of that route, and in San Jose (depending on where in San Jose).

Be prepared for traffic coming into San Jose at the time. I would allow at least two hours. If she is too early she can sit and wait in the car or find a coffee shop.

She can take 5/205/580/680 but the Tracy triangle can be difficult, it is commute time.

What side of San Jose is she going?

Not sure where in Stockton you live and where in San Jose you’re going, but I would allow at least 2 hours at that busy time of the morning. Once you’re on 580 W, I would take 84 S in Livermore and avoid the 580/680 interchange altogether. Once you hit 680 S it will transition into 280. I would probably just stay on it and not take the Mission Blvd. exit. IF your D DOES take the Mission Blvd. exit, tell her to be careful. It is the SECOND Mission Blvd exit she will see and not the first one.

Thanks all. She is at UOP in Stockton. Not sure where in San Jose the interview is. I will ask. They were going to leave at 7am and MUST be there by 9. Current google shows three routes (7am today) and the longest at 2.5 hours. I just sent a text offering to pay for a hotel Tuesday pm. Of course, she will probably pooh pooh me but that is what I would do.

Best of luck to your daughter on her interview. Too late to post anything more substantial, though I hope they listened to you regarding leaving earlier or spending the night on Tuesday within San Jose. Again, fingers crossed!

Get her a hotel tonight in San Jose.

Traffic is horrible entering Silicon Valley in the mornings. 680 South even after 84 is bumper-to-bumper through Milpitas.

You don’t want your daughter negotiating that and stressing about getting there before an interview. Bad idea.

There is the ACE train too: [ACE | Altamont Commuter Express | Welcome to ACE Life!](http://www.acerail.com/Home.aspx)
However the arrival times are only once an hour.
