So today I heard she adopted a baby boy back in January and it was kept private. My heart breaks for her. Can you imagine 6 weeks ago she had it all? She woke up in bed with her husband as an Oscar recipient to the beautiful cry of a new born baby, only to have it crash around her 1 week later. The people magazine article stated they started the process 4 yrs ago.

I am not emotionally invested in her life, but personally I would not have kind words for Jesse James if I met him on the street. I think if he is smart he will move to Europe, or even better Outer Siberia!

Am reading “Blind Side” right now and resisting the movie until I finish the book. Have always liked Sandra Bullock. Didn’t she get her start with Keanu Reeves in Speed?

Not sure on the adoption, seems like a lot of change to be processing in a short time. Why right now? They say when you go through trauma you should just freeze yourself for a bit and not make any big decisions.

sewhappy, apparently they adopted before she learned of the infidelity (January) and had been investigating/planning for it for four years.

I read the book also. It’s far more technical than the movie; in fact, football seems to be much more of the focus than Micahel Oher and the Tuohy family, which was the total focus of the movie.

I really enjoyed both the book and the movie.

Also, although Speed put her in the public eye in a big way, she had appeared in other films and television prior to Speed. You learn these things when you watch E! Network while on the treadmill. I also learned that Courtney Cox would buy and remodel homes, then flip them between acting jobs when she was only about 19 or 20. I thought that was impressive.

Glad to hear the adoption was already planned. Sandra has always been up there with me even in some of her sillier movies. She’s got such a strong but beautiful face. Aging really well, too. I think I once read that her parents are from Europe and opera singers. I also read that she has also been very astute with her finances.

Agree the book is very big on football technicalities. My DH read it and tells me it will get better . . .

Wasn’t Courtney Cox the pretty girl who Springsteen pulled up on stage to dance with in “Dancing in the Dark”? You can only be destined for a wonderful life with that sort of debut.

Courtney Cox was the very pretty actress who was cast as the pretty girl Bruce Springsteen would pull up on stage when they filmed the video of “Dancing In The Dark”. She was already on her way.

I think the most surprising thing about this story is Sandra’s ability to keep the adoption secret throughout the intense media scrutiny of both the Oscar & her husband’s infidelity.

I hope this baby gives her the joy & sense of family she deserves!

Apolo is a big fan of Sandy - I think they are both pretty down to earth.

But re: the baby, Sandra and her husband had been going through the adoption process for the last four years. While I don’t read stories in general about celebrities, my impression is that she considers her soon to be ex a good father & is dedicated to continuing her relationship with his three children. ( in fact I believe that they are living with her while their dad is in rehab.)

Sandra’s ability to keep the adoption secret throughout the intense media scrutiny of both the Oscar & her husband’s infidelity.

That would take very strong will- her friends must have thought she was nuts!

Haven’t read the book or seen the movie- but I did buy the book for my H a few years ago- cause he is a big football fan, he really enjoyed it.

Have you seen their picture on the cover of People? I try not to get swept up in celebrity gossip but that picture is just beautiful.

It’s not the same, of course, but I’ve known several widows of naval aviators who were pregnant or had infants when their husbands died. Each one of them says it was the hardest thing they’ve ever done but that caring for their baby kept them sane and moving back towards life. It’s both heart-breaking and awe-inspiring. Love can move mountains.

I not only saw the photo, I bought the magazine! I never buy People, although I read it avidly in waiting rooms. I was taking a train yesterday, and I walked by a magazine stand. I couldn’t resist the photo on the cover, and there were even more beautiful photos of Sandra with her baby inside. I wonder who took them?

I took some abuse from S1 when I got home; he was quite scornful of my choice of train reading matter…

I look at it this way…the best part of going to the doctor or dentist, or flying on a plane, is reading magazines I never read at any other time! I’m with you on that one!

I bet this will be one of their most popular issues because people will want to know how she kept this a secret for 3 1/2 months especially since only a few days earlier the big news was she was spotted without her wedding ring. Can you imagine how guarded she had to be not to be in public with the baby? That action actually touched my heart and made me believe she is going to be a great Mom. Every Mom wants to show off their child, and I am sure she is no exception, but I bet she realized that if she did it earlier she would have been swarmed by the paparazzi and that would create safety issues for the baby.

I also heard on MSNBC this morning that she stated she believes Jesse is a very good father and would never defame him in that way. Class Act all the way.

Last night Bullet and I were joking about our free pass for an affair, mine is George Clooney, he said his would be either Sandra Bullock or Courtney Cox Arquette. I have to say I am impressed with his choices and strongly approve :D

(^^I love that other couples have ‘free pass’ celebrity designations, too. My husband’s is currently Eva Longoria, but he hasn’t seen her in Desperate Housewives, so he doesn’t know how high-maintenance she is. Mine is Daniel Craig. It used to be Pierce Brosnan, but that was from his Remington Steele days.)

aibarr, I was in the fifth row when I saw Daniel Craig perform in “A Steady Rain”. He is a very good looking man. I went to the play with low expectations but my sister, a Hugh Jackman groupie, really wanted to go (69 years old - I love her but she is a nut). I thought Craig did an excellent job.

My sister insisted that we get to the theater very early to see Mr. Jackman arrive. It was mortifying. :o There was quite a cross section of fans and he said hello to every single one - even my cuckoo for coco puffs sister. If you had a camera he would pose with you. I am not a huge fan but I have to say that he is a class act.
