"Matt Sanner didnt want to visit Princeton University.

The North Central High School soccer star wouldnt have had time if his team hadnt been upset by Brebeuf Jesuit in sectionals this fall and after several other college visits, Sanner was considering staying in Indianapolis and enjoying his first free weekend in months. But at the last minute, he decided to take his official visit to the Ivy League.

“I fell in love with it the moment I stepped on campus,” said Sanner who committed to Princeton last month over Harvard, Michigan, Georgetown, Northwestern and Notre Dame. “I fell in love with the guys (on the team). I fell in love with their new stadium.”

Roberts Stadium opened last season and was built after five players put together a foundation that raised $14.5 million through 44 donors.

“The set up there is amazing,” he said. “Its perfect (timing) to turn the tradition around.”

And the academics arent bad either.

Sanner has not decided on a major but was intrigued by the schools Operation Research and Financial Engineering program, which uses math to maximize efficiency. Sanner reviewed student projects that included reviewing traffic patterns and betting on football games. (continued)
