I called the financial aid and they said they give it to only 15-20 percent admitted students merit, it will be tough if we don’t get anything. Is your student interested in Joining and what major?
is anyone unable to sign up for the virtual day in the life?
She was admitted for Public Health Sciences. Getting some merit will be an important factor for us in deciding. Thanks for calling the financial aid office. That is good information to have.
Did you decide to stay on the waitlist?
We got merit award letter yesterday afternoon. Will consider. Still way more expensive than her other choices, UCSC and Cal Poly SLO.
test
May I ask how much they gave, are they good with that?
Sent you a PM. She received the SCU Bronco scholarship.
How is the culture of Santa Clara university, is it a school full of wealthy kids, if anyone knows?
Close friend son just got off the wait-list!!!
Congrats! I wonder whether scholarship is any possible for students admitted from WL. Does your friend’ son get some scholarship from the school?
No, scholarships were not offered.
Did anyone choose between Santa Clara and UConn - which do you prefer and why?
Interesting. I can say my daughter did not choose either. I also think they are really different schools. UConn is our flagship but my daughter wanted to get out of state so the application was a financial backup. In the end, I think she wasn’t ready to fly across the country to SCU and be that far from home once we did it again not as a vacation. She chose Lafayette College. Because they are so different, UConn and SCU, I think it is best to understand why you/kid applied to them and what you get from them. UConn, Penn State - huge classes vs schools like SCU and Lafayette. Major is important. SCU is great if you are going to try to get a job in silicon valley. UConn I think is great for a lot of majors but you want to stick to the Northeast and you can manage being a number.
Last week, my daughter got off the wait-list for Computer Science and Engineering program as well .
My daughter got an SCU Grant for 9,000 for Computer Science & Engineering after coming of the waitlist. It was mentioned in the status update letter on the portal. So it looks like they do offer limited financial aid for students coming off the waitlist.
Congrats!
