yes i know but do we know if SCU is like other schools that for ED applicants only accept or reject?
I know a current freshman that applied ED last year and was deferred then accepted.
do you know what her gpa and major were?
Majoring in business I think. I donāt know her GPA but Iād guess sheād be similar to my D24 who has 3.7UW/4.0W. Our school acceptance rate to SCUs over the last 4 years is 60 percent according to Naviance, with an average GPA of 4.1W for accepted students.
Yes, unfortunately SCU does tend to defer ea kids and push them to regular round.
iām edāing with 3.7W. pretty nervous
I believe in you! I think SCU admission is weird at our school. TONS of people get in, but it seems like most people at our school get deferred first. Good luck to you!
I hope so!!
FWIW Our D23 (last cycle) applied EA, was deferred (before Christmas which honestly, was a bummer time to tell kids) and asked to opt for ED2 (she did not) then was accepted. They told us (repeatedly) at that time that they take a high # of ED applicants, but we knew of some who applied ED who were also deferred, strong students from college prep HS. YMMV as each application year is different.
Personally, our experience was 'who knows what they are looking for?" with SCU. She applied to a mix of UCās, CSUās and privates and SCU was the only one we could never figure out.
Our kid is high stats (was accepted into Cal and UCSBās CCS program), showed tons of demonstrated interest (including meetings over the summer with SCU faculty) wrote exceptional essays/ super strong LORās and was still deferred.
My personal (and obviously biased) theory is that SCU first accepts the tipsiest top of applicants (highest GPA/test scores - she went TO), waits to see how that pans out, and then extends offers to a second tier of applicants. Totally their prerogative of course, just tough on applicants.
Good luck to everyone!
Do colleges take your high school into consideration when seeing your gpa?
yes. They get a school report for you school that shows which courses are offered, how gpa is calculated, and lots of other school specific information.
My graphic glitched a bit when I was signing in. does that mean something?
Does anyone know if SCU gives merit money decisions at the same time as EA decisions, or is it a 2-stage process, with financial decisions coming later?
I looked up last yearās early action thread, and the financial aid offers came separately. One person there suggested that in the past they had come out the day following admission. But I canāt tell from last yearās thread how long after admission financial aid offers started arriving.
Does SCU publish their early action acceptance rate (as opposed to early decision or some aggregate of early admission)?
i donāt think they did last year
this week?
Colleges look at your high school profile which your school counselor sends. This describes your high school, and your class.
Colleges, for the most part, do not consider the name of your high school.
Soā¦which are you asking about.
Just the academic levels/competitiveness of the high school
Santa Clara seems to have a pattern of posting decisions this week.
Any comments?
