it’s my first time taking classes there and i want to take italian. however i am a high school student so my enrollment dates will be very late and by that time classes will probably be full. i heard some students email teachers for add codes so they can get into the class as soon as someone drops. when are add codes available?

Well, this whole thing depends on when you want to take Italian.

Are you taking it in the summer? If so, SMC is not doing concurrent high school enrollment for the summer. Add codes are typically given out on the first day of class, so you have to try to crash. Most of the time, the professors don’t bother giving out add codes since there are so many people trying to add.

Good luck.

actually they are doing concurrent enrollment i got verification…

Word! I believe the Italian 1 professor this summer is Giovanni Trombetta. He’s a pretty cool guy. You can try to send him an email and if you seem serious enough about your studies, he will probably give you an add code. It’s not a guarantee, so don’t get upset if he doesn’t give it to you. You can still show up on the first day of class to “crash.”

Thank you so much! I hope it all works out :)

SMC has a policy against it, but some professors do anyway. SMC’s policy basically states that the only way to add a student who didn’t add the class when it was open is through a random lottery performed the first week of class, pending open spots.
