Hi so i’ve run into a problem.
I did the SAP appeal form and wrote the letter, but now the Financial Aid office is asking for documentation. The problem is that none of the events exactly have documentation.
How do I get documentation for my dad cutting contact and all financial assistance, or my mom quitting her job to take care of my grandma, or that we are practically homeless now? I mean, there’s not exactly any documentation that can show that, is there?
Your mom can get a letter from her employer which states her last day of employment/last paycheck. Your landlord can prepare a letter stating that on XYZ you are being evicted (or whatever the circumstances are leading up to you being homeless). You can get a social worker (and I hope your family is working with one in order to help you get straightened out) attesting to the fact that your father is not in the picture and providing no financial support at all.
Hugs to you. This is challenging. But 15 minutes on the phone to the right people can get you the three letters that you need to document your situation.
Is there a social worker involved? Do you have younger siblings? Does your mom know what resources are available to help her (both financially and otherwise?) Does she have a lawyer who can help garnish your dad’s wages to support his family even if he’s taken off???
