Sartorial scorecard: thoughts on inaugural fashion

Fashion is part of the theater of politics. What are your thoughts on yesterday’s fashion choices and how they expressed the politics of the wearer? (Keep it kind, no comments on looks or body types obviously and this is about fashion not politics)

I’ll start: Melania was stunning in her naval hat look and her black and white ball gown. Severe, but playful. I thought it showed an interesting side of her peekaboo personality. Much more individualistic choices than last time around.

Usha Vance was lovely in soft colors, nothing adventurous or eccentric in her choices. Aspirational, yet attainable looks.

Ivanka stood out among the Trump children. Definitely Jackie O vibes.

DJT in a black suit apparently. That was surprising, I thought dark navy was a more standard daytime choice.

Agree with your impressions about the fashion choices of Melania and Usha.
Even Jill Biden in blue and high heels, eye catching, which I noticed as she walked to the helicopter.

And these choices help promote American fashion designers.

Sen. Deb Fischer (R-NE) in green- definitely easy to find in a crowd.

I found it surprising that Trump’s handlers let him go to the National Cathedral service in a not-a-suit.

Big “I’m 14 and have one formal event to go to this year, so my parents told me to just wear my older brother’s suit coat and also some blue pants from my closet” energy.

Melania’s hat stole the show! But it apparently almost did not make it to the event:
