I’m applying early decision to a college where SAT 2’s are optional, but recommended.

(“SAT II results are encouraged but are not required unless home-schooled” are the exact words)

I currently have an SAT I score of 2190 (740 CR, 730 M, 720 W with 12 essay though I don’t know if the essay score even matters…)

And have ONE SAT II score for Math 2 of 690 which I really, really want to retake since I’m certain I messed up because I was sick on the day of the test.

Should I retake SAT I (I honestly think CR will drop a lot and others won’t increase either, but no harm in trying…) or take SAT IIs?

There’s no guarantee, of course, because Emory is very selective, but I think those SAT I scores put you in a good position for Emory (above their median). If you think the SAT II is out of line and you really can do better, maybe you should do that.

If you don’t think your SAT I will get much better and you haven’t studied or anything, just take SAT ll’s. Maybe they’ll be required at other colleges.

Honestly, maybe I’d have a chance to increase if I studied my butt off from now till october, but I highly doubt that. So I guess I’ll stick to SAT IIs… thanks!
