SAT 2 Scores

Our Son has taken the ACT 2x’s (31/32) and the SAT 2 subject tests in History and Math 730/730 - these scores came to him this past week. He has NOT taken the SAT 1. He does not think that he will bother taking the SAT 1. He needed to take the SAT 2 for some of the schools that he wants to apply to - with this being said, is there a ‘formula’ that can he can used to figure what type of SAT 1 score he would get through his known scores on the SAT 2 (730/730)??? Thanks -

No, SAT 2’s and 1’s are completely different. For example, on Math Lvl 2 SAT 2, one can get 800 with like 5 wrong, but on math SAT 1, just a single wrong answer may bump one down to 770. Also, they all test different things. If he’s a reading/writing whiz, he might get really high SAT 1 scores. But no, there is no set formula

You can’t really compare the SAT I to the SAT IIs since the SAT IIs test you on your raw knowledge of a specific subject. A 32 is fine for any college, including the Ivies (a friend I knew got into Harvard with a 32…but he had LOTS of leadership stuff).

If I were your son, I would take out some SAT prep books and do some practice tests and see if you did better than the 32 on the ACT. (A 32 on the ACT is around a 2130 on the SAT). If the SAT score is much higher, take the real thing, if not, just sit back and relax. (Or try the ACT one last time?)

If he has taken the ACT already, it should supplement for the SAT I.
