So stanford says that you can place out of their year of a language requirement if you get a 630 or above on a language sat 2 other than english but it doesnt specify whether it is the sat 2 with or without listening. Does anyone know which it is?? I need to sign up by tonight.

I think it’s either one, since it doesn’t specify, so take the one you think you’ll do better on.

You’ll still have to take a placement exam… I talked to some people during Admit Weekend and they seem to want you to take placement exams anyway…

^That’s not what it says on the web site; seems to clearly indicated that you have three paths for meeting the requirement - and by far the easiest is the SAT language.

You don’t have to take a placement exam if you have tested out of it through SAT language or AP, but the language department does encourage it during Orientation Week, in case you decide you want to continue studying that language at some point while you are here. That way, you will know which level to take.

Seems like they really encourage it, because the language department people we talked to said they want placement tests if you’re serious about the subject.

There’s a lot of stuff on the website that isn’t completely true in practice, Sun Diego.
