SAT 2290 vs ACT 36

My daughter is doing her junior year in high school.

She got 2290 in Jan SAT and 36 in Apr ACT

Questions:

 1. Is there any reason to send her score to Vice President and senator? ACT send your score has these options which make me to wonder!

Is there any benefit of sending these score to universities in advance. (She got another year of school left)

Can we send both scores (SAT and ACT)? or just send ACT

Is there presidential award for getting perfect score in ACT (I know SAT 2400ers are invited to white house for presidential award

There is no white house thing.

Hello KLM123,

The reason a person might send their scores to a Senator is for purposes of getting an appointment to a military service academy, so if your daughter is looking at these, she might want to check out her U.S. Senator’s website for more information.

The one benefit would be avoiding the cost of having to send the score report separately come application time. ACT will send it a few places for free, whereas when sending it later, you have to pay ACT to send it.

You CAN send both scores. Most (if not all) schools only require only one or the other, of which the ACT score, the 36, is the stronger for your daughter. But you can indeed send both (though it will cost more in the end).

Your are thinking of the Presidential Scholars Program. The program is based on both ACT and SAT, and your daughter’s ACT score will probably qualify her (depending on what state she is in). The top 30 male and female scorers of the two tests in each state (they use concordance tables to line them up) become candidates for the program. From there, your daughter will have to submit an application to the program to be considered for the actual recognition program where 141 students will be recognized at the White House. I would advise you to look this up online for more information. Her 36 may or may not qualify her depending on what state she is in and on what her individual sections scores were. If she got all 36’s on every section, she’s guaranteed to be a candidate. If she got a 35 or two, then it will come down to how competitive your state is.
