Hello,
I want to study computer/electrical engineering and while looking at good colleges, I sometimes doubt I’ll be able to handle their Math classes. Because the thing is, I am a senior in HS in Slovenia, Europe and since freshman year, i have barely passed my math class. All years except sophomore year, my grade was a 2/5 (1=not passing), sophmore year I had a 3/5.
The funny this is, I got a 33 on my ACT math and a 660 on my SAT (although i didn’t sleep at all the night before taking the test, I usually got around 750 on my practice tests, but anyhow)
So, are ACT/SAT math scores actual depictions of how prepared a person is for college math or am I doomed?
Thanks!
If you come to a college in US, it seems that you will be as prepared for college math as any US kids, which is not saying much.
@payn4ward haha! That gave me a chuckle.
But on a serious note, do you think I would have problems at universities such as GA Tech UT Austin etc? This is hypothetical, as in if I could actually get in, but still I want to know.
Oh, and I am a US kid myself, I was born in Virginia.
It seems that you have fairly good problem solving skills and sound Algebra. I don’t know how inflated/deflated your grades are in Slovania. For engineering math in college, you will do some calculus, differential equations, stat, some computer programming for numerical analysis. As long as you are willing to put in time and know how to get help, I don’t think anyone should worry too much.
You may want to get SAT Subject Math II and AP Calculus test books and try and grade yourself if you are still curious and want to compare against others in us.
