sat/act vs gpa

Is it truly a balancing act or does one out do the other?
(personally i have a high gpa but low standardized test scores)

Doubtful, especially if one is aiming for a top school. If you have a high GPA but a low test score, college admissions people may think you come from an easy high school; if the other way around, they may think that you are a slacker. Having both high is best, though I suppose having one high and one low is better than both low… :D

bummer ):

But I guess its fair to most

You may be wise to steer towards the best schools that are SAT optional.

Three that come to mind are Bowdoin, Bates, and Holy Cross. Complete list here: [FairTest Home](http://www.fairtest.org)
