I’m applying to a school that has an admissions deadline of March 15. I didn’t even think of applying this year until a professor from the school encouraged me to do so, so I was caught a bit off guard.

My SAT score is approximately 30 points below the school’s middle 50%, and my HS grades are very weak ( there was a mitigating circumstance involved, however it was uncommon so I have no idea how admissions will view it); but my college record is strong.

Should I take the March 14th SAT? I asked the admissions dean and he said he “cannot guarantee” that the scores will be considered. Does this mean he was trying to say it won’t make a difference? I’m wondering whether I should still give it a shot or just forget about re-taking the SAT.
