SAT and ACT

Does Harvard take superscored SAT or only in one sitting? What is the 25%-75% SAT and ACT scores at Harvard?

Harvard is a ScoreChoice school, so they'll take the highest scores in each category, provided you submit them properly. According to the College Board website, its 25-75% ranges are as follows. (Keep in mind that the lower ends are associated with athletic recruits and some international students, and most applicants have at least one score that's on the 75% end.)

SAT Critical Reading: 690 - 780
SAT Math: 690 - 790
SAT Writing: 690 - 780
ACT Composite: 31 - 34

Thanks. Ontario, CA?

Ontario, Canada - not Ontario, California. The two have very similar abbreviations. My SAT, for the record, was 2260 - 740 CR/770 M/750 W, and that was one of the higher Ontario ones (with the exception of one girl who got a 2370). Best of luck.

The above link shows the percentiles for the specific SAT sections.

This, taken from the CollegeBoard's website, provides percentiles. As I am not too sure of its accuracy, you can also refer to Harvard's news release for 2009 and 2010 for some more information on the profiles of the competition for spots in the class.

On Score Choice:

Students applying to Harvard are free to use the College Board's new Score Choice option and/or a similar option already offered by ACT.

The above quote is taken directly from Harvard's website.

Hope this was of some help.

If it helps you provide some sort of comparison, I received a score of 2270: 800CR, 710M, 760W. My scores, sadly enough, were not balanced, but my result shows that they don't have to be. :)

How do you know all the scores in Ontario?

misterg's data are outdated; the new ranges are a bit higher.

happysunnyshine, I'm working from anecdotal evidence. Of the 20-or-so Ontarians who got in, that 2370 was the highest in the room - we went around in a little circle at prefrosh, haha. Scores were from 2180-2260, with that 2370 and a few legacies with low 2100s.

^How many Asians were there in your little circle? :D

^^I should have skipped over to Canada's room during prefrosh - the mid-Atlantic room was just full of hot and sweaty people, and we didn't manage to discuss SAT scores. :(
