I got a 6 out of 12 on my essay! I took the Kaplan class and learned how to write a good essay. I did my practice ones well and the teacher told me how I could perfect them. I thought my essay was good, definitely not a 6. I had the creativity prompt. What went wrong?

Did you use classic literature or history as any of your examples? If so, that could have hurt you, because the prompt wanted you to talk about creativity in today’s world…

If not, who knows. Once the College Board puts up our essays, you could type it up and get better opinions on the matter.

I definitely didn’t use real literature or history as my examples. I can’t believe stupid Kaplan didn’t tell me to do that!!!

Well in this case it’s a good thing, because those really would not have applied to the prompt.

Is it just me or all the people complaining about low essay scores the ones who took prep classes?

No, I used PR and followed their format to a certain extent. I was very pleasantly surprised by my (essay) score… considering that time was called when I was in the middle of a sentence.
