Well, I’ve heard under-represented races, geography and such are given an alleged SAT “boost.” Something like 100 points for being African-American, as an example. Can anyone elaborate on this?

More like 300.

http://professionals.collegeboard.com/profdownload/sat-percentile-ranks-by-gender-ethnicity-2010.pdf

Notice how a 700 in each category is 99% for African Americans, and notice that an 800 is 99% for whites. So (not exact math since % are much higher if you get an 800 or 700 on each section) a 2100 for and african american is close to a 2400 if you were white.
Please go to the “race” sticky if you want to know more.

Don’t think its a boost as in if a URM student student got a 2100 it would say 2400.

It means that the percentile is higher for that race. Either way, a 2100 for a URM is more impressive than 2100 for an Asian/White.
