SAT - Composite VS Breakdown

<p>I am an international student (but US citizen) hoping to apply for top colleges. My SAT is [M - 640] [W - 670] [CR - 800]
total 2110</p>

I wish to major in English Lit (or something Artsy) and my application will reflect this.
Is a higher composite score more important, than a perfect score where it counts??
ie . should i retake for a higher composite?

<p>Most schools will accept your highest score in each section, so you won’t “lose” the 800. A notable exception to this is the University of California, which takes your highest composite score from any one test date. If you feel the need to retake the SAT, don’t let the fear of a lower CR score stand in your way.</p>
