SAT critical reading question?

I had no luck in finding someone who met Earl’s standards
“No, I won’t ride with servicemen,” said my casually seditious father, as he slowed down and peered at a young soldier and then resumed his full cruising speed, while I, patriotically offended, watched the stunned defender of my freedoms kicking at his duffle bag and getting smaller and smaller…

Earls remark in line 32 (No I wont ride with servicemen) strikes virgil (he’s the narrator) as being

A: disloyal
B: Shrewd
C: Confusing
D: Humorous
E: Irrational

I will reveal answer shortly after I get some responses, please post your answer choice and your reasoning please.

A. 10charhahs

That’s correct!, I originally picked E can you tell me why that’s wrong? Is A right because the father is being disloyal to his country by not providing a ride to the serviceman, and Virgil is “patriotically offended” while the father is casually rebellious. Is that the right reasoning?

Irrational would not work because nothing about the remark is illogical, or doesn’t make sense. Disloyal works much better because of the fact that he was “patriotically offended”

A . Because he refused to take someone with him who is taking care of his freedom. So the father’s reaction is somehow disloyal
