Sat Curve

How does college board know how to curve their SAT prior to administering the test, is there some sort of control group. You would think they would do a nationwide curve and assign so many 2400’s 2300’s etc, but they specifically state that the sucess of others taking the test will not influence your score.

No they don’t have the exact curve worked out before the test, but they have a pretty good idea. Unless everyone bombs it or everyone does really well, they’re not gonna change it much. I just know that the writing curve this year is a lot harder. If I had gotten the same results last year, I could have gotten a 790, but since the curve is changed, I only got a 760.

This writing section was too easy though. I know you can get like 8 wrong with an essay of 12 and still hit 800 though.

No, I got 8 wrong with a score of 12 and I only got a 740. (with no omits)
