sat dilemna

i took the sat and act in my sophomore year and i am now a rising senior. i got a 2090 sophomore year(770 math, 660 reading, 660 writing) which isnt that great where i am applying. i got a 34 on the act one month later. and i did pretty well on my subject tests this year. i am trying to some scholarships to schools but i dont know if that 2090 is going to hurt me. the sat date in october i have a national tennis tournament so i dont know if i can take the sat that day and dont know if i want to.

what should i do?

schools i am applying to: ivies(but tennis will help me get in), georgetown, boston college(trying for presidential scholarship), villanova(trying for presidential scholarship), usc, santa clara, ucsd

Send in your ACT for scholarships?

I think colleges in general prefer to see a more recent SAT score. I’d retake the SAT in November, if you can.

And although tennis will help you get in, your essay, which I’ve read, won’t. You’re working on that essay, right? Here’s a great site [U.Va</a>. Office of Admission Essays](http://www.virginia.edu/undergradadmission/writingtheessay.html)

im writing on different topics. more individualized and creative. i know the essay is weak for the top schools.

The ACT score is awesome & most schools will look at that. See my post at

With that ACT score you’re most likely in to USC, Santa Clara, and possibly UCSD (depends on your GPA(W). In fact, I’d say the ACT 34 is probably good for most of your schools - again, the unknown factor is your GPA. 3.8+ then you’re probably good for the Ivies (given the sports connection). With respect to scholarships at the schools you mention- depends on a whole host of other factors. Of the schools you mentioned, my d got non-need based scholarships at USC & Santa Clara (also got something from most of the other schools she was accepted at).
