SAT essay examples for TECHNOLOGY

Is it me or is it really hard to find essay examples regarding technology?
And I mean solid, supportive examples like books.

Are there any good examples for technology?

I think it was the Civil War that ended but battles were still being fought (The Battle of New Orleans?) because the generals located far from the capital didn’t know the war was over. Great example for showing the benefits of technology.

Medical improvements are good examples.

George Orwell’s 1984 for negative examples. But since technology cannot be totally predicted, it’s almost easier to stay with real-world examples and shy away from books.

How would u use 1984 tho? The novel doesn’t really talk about technology.

Yeah it does.

The government uses cameras, spyware (aka technology)

The Battle of New Orleans was during the War of 1812; Major General (and future president) Andrew Jackson defeated the British there, something like two weeks after the Treaty of Ghent had been signed (in Ghent, Belgium). While the battle did take place after the treaty had been signed, it hadn’t yet been ratified by the US, so I don’t know if the war would have been fought anyway.

The Civil War would be another great example, as Union victory was greatly aided by the advent of the telegraph and railway. Conversely, the Confederacy failed to utilize such technology, and fared worse for this reason. I don’t know whether it could be said that technology changed the outcome in this case, but it certainly changed the war.

You could go further down the list, on to rifled barrels, interchangeable parts, etc. You might even consider the longbow, and how archery revolutionized warfare. There’s a lot of opportunity for looking at technological advances in the context of warfare.

Then you have many aspects of farming (specifically, you might speak about how this allowed for actual civilizations to develop), oil, electricity, the light bulb, the printing press, the internal combustion engine, the personal computer, the Internet, e-mail, the automobile, planes, carbon nano-tubes, the electric motor, thorium reactors, the Three-Mile Island accident (nuclear meltdown), and India’s three-stage nuclear power program.

Pick several of the above examples, and research specific instances of their application, as well as how this has impacted the world. I’m sure you’ll have no trouble with examples. Good luck!
