SAT Essay Topics

Im compiling a list of novels/books with general messages behind them in preparation for the SAT essay portion for November 2. I don’t want to use the redundant stories like Of Mice of Men, Oedipus, To Kill a Mockingbird, etc. I tried looking into classic Islamic/Arabic literature but couldn’t find great details in any of them.

So does anyone have any suggestions of good books that are not widely used/known that also have a moral behind it?

I would keep in mind your readers - high school English teachers and professors. You might not want to discard those “redundant stories” so quickly since those are the ones with which your readers will likely be most familiar.

If you do use good books that are not widely known then you will have to be careful to provide enough background detail and/or clear explanations of what is going on in the book.
