<p>Do highly accomplished people achieve more than others mainly because they expect more of themselves?</p>
<pre><code> What people have achieved might be different from what they have expected. Many students hope to get high scores on their exam. To satisfy their expectation, they put strenuous effort; however, life always does not turn out to be like what people expected. Although people sometimes fail to satisfy their expectation, expectation still gives people stimulation and vivid visualization which help people to make great accomplishments.
Expectation is one of the strongest stimuli that make people work hard. Since people expect something from themselves, they unconsciously try their best to meet their needs. Yuna Kim, one of the most prominent figure skaters, dreamed of herself being gold-medalist at Vancouver Olympic. With her expectation, she had spent a lot of days on the cold ice-rink, spinning, jumping and hurting hundreds and thousands times. Finally, she became the one she had expected to be. In her autobiography, she says that If I did not have any hope or expectation about myself, I might have fell already, feeling miserable and hiding myself from the society. As shown from the example of Yuna Kim, expectation stimulates people to achieve their goals.
Expectation helps people visualize their dream, also. Visualzation is very significant because it makes people delve into the problem and stir them to work hard. In my case, I expected to be a student of the best high school in my country. I always had expectation about being hard-working and competitive student in the school; although my visualization was mere fabrication, I always behaved like the one from the best school. This visualization helped me a lot to work really hard, and finally, I got accepted to the school. It is my personal conviction and my experience that expectation helps people to have one step forward to their dream.
Expectation might be mere illusionary dream. However, once expectation becomes peoples stimulus and strong visualization of their dreams, it becomes the strongest weapon to make people achieve their objectives.
