Hi guys, I’m getting conflicting information about how to write the persuasive essay on the SAT. I have always done it like this:
-Intro: College is worth it, because it paves the way for a successful career, helps individuals grow intellectually, and provides opportunities that are unavailable anywhere else. This is evident in X, Y, and Z. (X, Y, and Z are real world examples.)
-Body paragraphs: Assertion (from above), Evidence X/Y/Z, Commentary.
-Conclusion: Echo thesis and points made.
However, after reading the big blue SAT book, the essays that got a 6 weren’t like this. One of them used a personal example and just expanded on it through 3 paragraphs. I have also heard that including a concession is impressive to the reader. Is there a best way to write it? Or is it really just up to how you defend your position?
