Hi everyone!!

I am looking into a CTY summer program for next summer. However, I will need to take the SAT to qualify. I have only studied a little bit in the past and only have a few months before I will need to take it to qualify.

The program doesn’t look at the writing score at all. The requirements are
≥ 680 M
Or
≥ 1240 M + CR.

My question is… How possible/ realistic is this for a rising freshman? (I have taken algebra 1 and geometry so far. I will only be in algebra 2 as a freshman.)

Thanks in advance :D

If you’re okay in Math, then you should be fine. I finished Algebra II last year as an 8th grader (same age as you), and then I took the SAT last May. I got 670 Math (10 points below the requirement, LOL) but I got 620 CR, so combined that is 1290, which fulfills the other requirement. So if you study harder than me (I only took 3 practice tests), then you should be able to qualify.

Okay, thank you so much! I’ll study this summer.

Another question: you choose which scores to send to colleges, right? I wouldn’t want my freshman score going to colleges.

Some colleges require you to send all of your SAT scores. Generally you are only allowed 3 chances to get the score you want on the SAT. If I were you, I would skip on the CTY camp. But, if you’re absolutely serious about going, then make sure you don’t mess up more than twice when you take it for real.

Well, I’ll think more about it. I just wanted to know if the requirements were reasonable. (:
