I’m a junior in highschool with an SAT score of a 1710 and my PSAT’s were a 170 and I am awaiting my second results. Kids in my school who aren’t intelligent are getting 2100’s and I don’t understand. U’m in the top 5% of my class of 435 but I can’t seem to improve my score. Any advice?

SAT is completely different from school. You can do well in school and not have very good SAT scores, it is a very common occurrence. Dong well in school is just memorizing facts and spitting them back out on an exam, while the SAT is a reasoning test. To improve your score, there is nothing you can do but take practice test after practice test.

I don’t really think the part about memorizing and spitting out info is true but thanks anyways!

Unfortunately, it is. I am near the top of my class of about 800, and it is all memorization. Stats, Calc, Bio, school comprises of just memorizing facts and rules. I rarely think critically in school with the exception of the occasional english assignment. Education in America needs a major reform, but obviously this is not the place to voice my concern. Good luck on your next SAT mate.
