Hi ! Im going to take my SATs in november and i am practicing from the Barron’s SAT book . I have noticed that im getting about 7 to 8 MCs wrong out of 35 questions in section 4 (writing section) , and about 3 questions wrong out of 14 in section 10 (also a writing section) . And i also never seem to finish within the time limit while practicing. I only have about 15 days left before the exam , i am very worried that i might not reach my goal of getting atleast an overall score of 1900 . How do i improve in the writing section in such a short time ? Any suggestions?

Are you currently taking an advanced writing or English class? Those teachers can be great resources for help, especially with the essay. For the SAT, you only have 25 minutes for the essay, so start off making a brief outline of the points that are most important to include. Start with a thesis and go from there. The best practice (from my experience) is to look at former SAT prompts–online or in a book–and practice creating an outline in a couple minutes. Once you have your outline, it’s easy enough to piece it together.

As for the MC writing parts, Sadlier vocabulary books are a HUGE help. Levels D an on include many of the SAT words–reviewing these can help a ton.

Thanks for the sadlier book suggestion ! Ill be going through it (:

The best way to improve your writing score would be to choose a different book!
Personally, I would never recommend Barron’s as it unnecessarily complicates the question to an extent where they no longer represent actual SAT questions.

McGraw Hill’s SAT, the Black Book and Erica Meltzer (I have heard its good but haven’t used it) would do just fine.

There are some amazing threads here too that will definitely help you.

What about the college board blue book ? Is that good for practicing the writing section?
