So I just took a few practice tests for both the World and US History subject tests and got 800s each time (missed a few on both though). I spent about 20-30 minutes total on each test. I also got a 5 on the World History AP test self-study after cramming for a few days. I figure that this means I know something about history and that people could benefit from this. So if you have any questions on history or how to study ask away.I guess this is my swt brag thread as well.

Thought: it annoys me greatly to see questions on literature pop up on practice tests. I don’t feel that knowing specifically what Walden or Moby Dick were about shows any historical knowledge.

Get one of the review books! It will help!

I’m freaking out! I have the SAT us history in 3 days and I’m getting a lot wrong on the practice tests. I’m doing pretty okay in my APUSH class but for some reason I can’t seem to get the questions that ask about the general sentiment of something in a particular century. like slavery and women movement. Any tips?

I’m taking SAT Math II and World History on June 2.

I’m taking WHAP right now, but my school ends on May 24ththat’s 9 days before the SAT Subject Tests. The problem is, I won’t have the World History (AP) textbook by then. How can I study/review for the World History Subject test?

I currently have:
Princeton’s WHAP book
Barron’s subject test for World History 3rd edition (completely useless according to reviews; never really looked through it but it seems like it would be so)
SAT Subject tests book (1 for every Subject test).

What can I do??

We have the same tests and same books, AniXian. Do you really think the Barron’s WH SAT book is useless? I was planning on using it a lot, but should I?

Well, msteiny1212, the Barron’s WH SAT book seems to have a lot of irrelevant info…there was some info about some old cave paintings in there. The most I can say about the book right now is that that book would be for extra info.

Interesting how we happen to have the same tests and books…

I’m trying to find good study resources for World History.

@Radioheadbro, can you please tell me what you saw twice or more on the US History exams? Or what should I study in preparations for tomorrow, like what topics/names you felt kept coming up? I got a 580 on the practice one (no real studying) and I think I can do way better.
Also, I know that if you do not know the answer you can leave it blank. I do better when I answer all of them though. Should I just answer them all?
Any quick study tips will be greatly appreciated! If this test was right after the APUSH test, I’m pretty sure I would do amazing, but I haven’t studied as much as I want to for history yet because I’m focusing for Chem on Monday. Thanks!

@anixian haha yeah, when I saw we had all the same stuff, I had to comment. I’ll send you a PM if I find any good resources, but I’m not terribly confident I’ll find any…

the questions about literature are the best :)

I’m writing USH on June 2nd, with never having taken a class in it. Gotta cram.

I’m taking the SAT World as well. Feeling a bit overwhelmed.

About Barron’s SAT World, is it really that bad? I was thinking of getting it? That, or Kaplan SAT World. I’m shooting for a 700+.

@AniXiaN and @msteiny

I have the same books like you guys! But if you wanna get more info on WH, you can find The Outline of History or the Global History. I just downloaded their PDFs. These books are even better than your textbooks and they have EVERYTHING.

For the Barron book, I think it’s kinda helpful for taking the SAT WH coz the test is much more specific than AP. The book indeed has too many info and some are extra, but knowing more is better than knowing less. And Barron’s pretty specific. Just don’t try to memorize it, but read it for one or two times if you want, and keep your interests.

@Rosaline: what is the The Outline of History or the Global History you are talking about?
