SAT I Preparation and taking the test more than 3 times?

I’ve taken the SAT 3 times already. My scores are absolutely terrible. Unfortunately, I decided to rely on other people’s knowledge and thought for some reason that colleges only received my highest score. Thus, I took the SAT in march of my junior year with no prep whatsoever. I freaked out the day of the test and got a 1200. I took it two more times and my scores were 1320 and 1300.

Well, this is not good enough. My verbal score is 700, which is right in the middle of the range of the colleges i’m applying to, but my 620 math score isn’t…

So, now that i’m a senior, i’ve decided to take the test one more time, and i’m absolutely convinced that I can score above 1420. If i’m sure of this, will it hurt me to take it a 4th time? I’m applying to top tier liberal arts schools.

Secondarily, what preparation would you guys recommend? I think i’m ok verbally, I got an 800 on a recent practice test, but my math score perpetually sucks. Any suggestions other than practice?

It’s not really going to hurt you to take it a fourth time, especially if you increase a lot. For math, I think a prep book is a good investment. I used Kaplan and thought it helped a lot.

SAT Math is all about drilling. Get a math drillbook(PR, Kaplans, whatever) and just do the whole book. Math questions are all basically the same, and once you keep doing them, you’ll get a lot better. I went from 640 math to 720 math just from drilling.
