SAT II -> AP Conversion Accuracy?

I’ve heard that to get your probable AP Score you subtract 200 from your SAT II score and divide it by 600. Multiply this number by 5 to get your AP score range. Is this pretty accurate from CC Confidential members? I’m just freaking out about AP Chem because I only got a 720 on the SAT II Chem…The TTCE probably got me. Any experiences regarding the correlation of the two?

lol at your formula… because of the free response section on the AP exams, the correlation between SAT II and AP wont be perfect but it should be pretty good. however, a better AP score predictor is the percentile. I’d say you have a strong chance of a 5 if you score 90+ percentile on the corresponding subject test as 10% of AP takers get a 5. I’d say borderline 5 is around 85th percentile as subject test takers are more knowledgeable than the kids who only take the AP exam.

Find out in a few days, right? In any case, it would mean I got a 4.666667 on APUSH, which sounds about right

That would mean I probably got atleast a 4…hopefully. I think a 720 was like 70th percentile. Ughhhh can’t get my mind of the AP scores!

Well, if this is correct, then last year, I got a 740 on SAT II US History, but a 4 on AP. So, 740-200=540, 540/600=0.9, 0.9*5=4.5, so maybe it’s right
If you can do that with Math, then…Math 2 SAT last year 730…should I have a 4 on AP Calc then? I don’t know if it works for that one.

It doesn’t always work though. I have a friend who got less than 700 on SAT Bio but a 5 on AP.

Save a step and just divide your score minus 200 by 120.

Copy and pasted formula from another thread…hopefully its accurate for chemistry this year.

wowww it actually worked for my AP Bio vs Bio M score!

Should get a 5 on USH then.

This would mean I got a 5 on AP World :stuck_out_tongue: For some reason I doubt it lol.

^I’m sure you did fine. At my school there have been many people with D’s and C’s in AP Chem that get 4s and 5s on the AP Chem so I’m anxiously waiting for Trevor’s twitter update. Obsession with AP scores is gonna kill me. Any other experiences out there?
