SAT II Chem without AP or Honors

So, I’m planning to take the SAT II Chemistry test, but I have never take an AP or Honors class for Chemistry. Will the concepts on the SAT II for Chemistry be rather difficult for me?

Have you taken any chemistry class? The concepts go beyond what the typical Honors class covers but not quite as in-depth as AP.

Yes, regular high school chemistry though.

Try a practice test and see how you do. It will probably be difficult to break 650 unless you do some self-studying.

Yeah, I plan to study for 2 months.

I’m interested in this question. I’ve taken an honors class for Chemistry and had to learn it for Academic Decathlon - I struggle with the subject and have forgotten most of the material.
I think Chemistry is just a difficult subject overall. I don’t know if it’s just me or if the subject really is that difficult. I learned pretty well with a teacher, so I think prior exposure definitely helps. I can’t say if you’d find the topics incomprehensible because for all I know, you could just have a natural knack for it. I think you’d fare better either way if you had access to someone who understood Chemistry and could answer or explain any questions.
From what I’ve gathered, a month is adequate time to study for the Chem SAT II so two months should be even better. I have Barron’s, since Princeton allegedly misses a topic or two. I wish you the best of luck.
