SAT II Chem?

Hey guys!

For those who took the chem test and did exceptionally well, what did you do to prepare? What type of program does your school have and how are the chem classes formatted? Do you meet everyday? Are the courses worksheet-heavy or do you do alot of labs.

I’m asking this because we’ve had some extremely bright students (gone to yale, pton, USC, Tulane, etc.) but no one from my school in the past two years have scored above a 700. the highest chem course we have is IB Chem HL which means we should have enough experience and information to do decently, or at least break 700. i dont understand but i want to attribute it to the school. the school is pretty good, i think ranked in the top five in MO, so overall education is very good.

as i look at the chance threads on CC and see people getting upper 700s, and 800s, on the test, im really scared on my chances to the highly selective BME programs across the nation like JHU, Duke, and NU’s HPME.

What do you guys think?

anyone?.. Please…

Input will be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest using the Princeton Review book, perhaps with a few practice test or two. Try an hour a week or so, and see what happens! Best of luck!

I am a junior and I took chem honors last year. I am halfway through my ap chem class. I think that’t the equivalent of IB. I used kaplan and princeton review books and studied for about 30 min a day for 2 weeks. I got a 780 in december, kinda disappointed cuz i’ve gotten 800s on the practices before. If you are still taking IB chem right now I suggest you wait until ap exam season to take chem cuz u will be studying once for two tests.
