SAT II in Application

Hello, I just very recently realized that SAT IIs are not required for the application. I have a 660 in USH and 800 in Math. I obviously intend on reporting the math score but should I report the USH as well or just only report the math score? I intend on majoring in Gender Women’s Studies or Philosophy…

First off, Yale doesn’t recruit by “intended major.” All student’s apply to Yale as Liberal Arts Majors and choose a major during their sophomore year. College’s ask about your “intended major” to gauge your interests, but as more than 60% of college students switch majors during their 4 years of college, Admissions cannot use the data for recruitment because it’s an unreliable predictor of a student’s final choice.

Secondly, IMHO, you should NOT report any SAT Subject Test score below 700 – and that’s pushing it. 740+ is the safe zone. So, report the 800 in Math and don’t report the 660 in USH.

@gibby , if i only submit one score that wouldn’t adversely affect my admission chance right?

Yale – along with Harvard, Princeton and the rest of the ivy league – have made SAT Subject Tests optional. So, submitting one score or no scores should not adversely affect your chances. From Columbia’s website:

Required Standardized Testing
SAT and two SAT Subject Test scores (for Engineering applicants, Math 1 or 2 and Biology, Physics or Chemistry) or the ACT Assessment with Writing
