SAT II problems...

okay so there are probably over 1000 “CHANCES!” posts, but I’m being stereotypical and doing the same…

so I’m a southern Orange county White guy at a public school with an API score close to 800… (Does that matter?)

I have a 3.87…unweighted… a 4.6 weighted GPA and I’m class rank 7 of 712.

SAT I: 2230 - 780M,690R,760W
ACT: 33 - 30E,35M,35R,30S

SATII’s: 760 US hist, 740 Math II, 690 Chem, 620 Bio, 580 Spanish…

Yea, I don’t know why I took so many…

I’ve got 7 AP’s under my belt and I’m in 6 AP’s as a senior…

5’s on calc, bio, comp and us history, 3’s on spanish IV, chem and euro history (pathetic I know…)

Either way, I’m a four year varsity track 100m,200m,400n runner, I did cross country for 2 years and I’m also a male cheerleader/gymnast (cheerleading for 3 years…) so I guess I’m a three time varsity athlete?
I’m president of Lions Club International, Rotary Club, and I’m a 4 year member of NHS, MUN

I’ve also started ping pong club and a school club called titan Toga party. I lived in Spain for 3 months last summer (mentioned it) and I’ve taken about half a dozen classes at my community college for fun (salsa dancing… haha)

my essays are legit, but I’m worried about my grades… anybody got some synopsis on my situation?

I know my teacher recs are pretty legit as well - one is from the science department chair at our school and the other from the english department chair -, and I have an optional letter of rec from a close family friend who went to stanford/donated (over 50K$)

anyone ! pleease! give me some feedback… I applied restrictive early action but I’m freaking out still. chances, anyone?

oh yea and i dont know if this matters, but the class rank #1 and #2 kids at my school are also applying… EHHH!!!

you obviously have a really good app but you don’t really stand out that much

well i was hoping me being a cheerleader would be a little bit unusual… im guessing alumni letters dont matter enough to help you get in either…

male cheerleader…and white…mad props

still is there anyone who can give me an evaluation of my chances?

and thanks for the props… i mean colleges always want “well rounded and diverse” students… I think I fit that…

Hmmm well is your 400m under 47 seconds? haha

Like the first poster said, you’ve got a strong app… just like the rest of us :frowning: It’s going to come down to chance in the end.

god i wish… im like a 53… 52 if i dive roll at the finish line… i wish i wasnt white hahhah

Haha I’m in the same boat- I was pumped with my 42’ triple jump to qualify for state… until I saw that even DI ivy league is packed with people above 50’ :)

Can’t wait until track season, especially because all of this application business will be over!

Angel,

How are you in NHS for 4 years? Our school (and I thought all schools) only had NHS starting in soph year.

Angel,

p.s. what state are you in? maybe that makes a difference

ehh i meant 3 years… you are right, you can’t be in it freshman year, so three years… i wasn’t really paying attention when I filled that out (but i was when i actually did my common app…

either way im in california… thus the “I’m a southern orange county (CA) white guy”

I think the only chances I have of getting in are with the fact that I’m a male cheerleader… it sucks because the coach for cheer can’t help me out because cheer isnt a varsity sport yet… otherwise i would be in there in 2 seconds… but yea… theres only 2 guy cheerleaders this year… so… they have to notice that i think

yea, that’s rough. you never know though. It sure seems like a lot of it is luck. Just be yourself and be honest other posts people kept trying to “puff up” their apps, but colleges always have ways of finding things out so I wouldn’t chance it at all. how are your essay’s and EC’s?

best of luck

well my ecs arent too broad but they are pretty specific… i mean i was in MUN and i was in NHS but i founded and was president of Lions club international for four years… and i took over its counter party (rotary interact) junior year. I also founded this school spirit club which has over 300 members… its called Titan Toga Party… and im the president of the family guy club… hahahahha

oh yea… and besides varsity track/cheer i took a competitive cheer team outside of school too… so 2 cheer teams… 1 track team… plus all that other stuff… but i tried to emphasize that i was really dedicated to lions club because that was really the only club i was major in

oh yea and my essays are GOD. I basically started working on them last summer… they are nice… and im a good writer… (not to be overconfident or anything…)

but im getting screwed by being in cali and being white… but im hoping REA will make up for that… theres only 2 ppl pplying from my school this year… but last year we had 5 people get in… and 4 go… and the year before we had 2 people get in and 1 go (and our school is only 4 years old… so… i think thats good?)

Those are good stats as far as students getting in. I also do MUN - lots of work, but I love it. How many conferences have you been to/is your school going to this year? Sounds as if your essays are good and that’s a big part of it. sounds like your interest is in Lions club international and that’s good too.

Good luck!
