SAT II US History Question

<p>I found this question in a book, but don’t really agree with the answer given:</p>

Which of the following was the primary cause of the Great Depression?
(A) The stock market crash in 1929
(B) Overseas investment by American corporations
(C) The Stimson Doctrine
(D) Strikes organized by the American Federation of Labor
(E) An imbalance in supply and demand of goods in the domestic market

</p>

<p>I put (A), since as I understand it (E) caused (A), which in turn caused the Great Depression. The answers, however, say that the correct answer is (E). Am I missing something?</p>

<p>thats why you should only use offical tests… both of them are causes but i guess the primary cause was E.</p>
