Sat ii's required...right?

my friend said she was planning to take the sat ii’s at the time of filling out her app…but then she never did. she got rejected from ucsc and the like but got accepted to davis as a music major. i remember reading somewhere that “sat ii’s are required” and also “if they are not present it may hurt your chances of acceptance”. ?? is it a mistake, and if so, will her admission be retracted?

Tell her to call and ask the admissions office.

she’s in france for two weeks…: /

if shes admitted shes fine.

Not if she put “planned” and never took it.

My D didn’t apply to Davis so I don’t have access to their admissions web pages. Below is from the UCSB “Steps to Enrollment” web page. It very clearly states that SAT IIs must be taken and scores submitted. It isn’t going to be different for any of the UC campuses as the two SAT IIs are a UC requirement and not specific to any campus. If your friend hasn’t submitted scores by the deadline it’s almost certain that admission will be recinded.

Conditions of Admission for Freshman Students

Fall 2006

We congratulate you on your academic achievements, which have resulted in your admission to UCSB. Please be aware that this decision was based on information about your academic progress that you reported through the eleventh grade and projected through the twelfth grade. We realize that academic plans and performance sometimes change or that inaccuracies can occur in students’ reports. Thus, your admission should be viewed as a contract that carries with it your responsibility for maintaining the level of performance that you reported in your application and for completing all courses you indicated on your application as in progress or planned for the senior year. Our purpose in emphasizing these conditions is to avoid misunderstandings that could disrupt your enrollment at a later date. Promptly reporting changes may enable us to suggest alternatives for you in the event your admission appears jeopardized.

These conditions are detailed for you below. Please read them carefully before submitting your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR). Submitting your SIR signifies that you understand the conditions, acknowledge that these obligations must be met in a timely manner, and recognize that failure to do so will invalidate this offer of admission.

Conditions

Notify the Office of Admissions immediately before you change any courses from those reported on your application. If informed in time, we may be able to approve such changes or suggest alternatives that will allow you to maintain your admission.

Maintain at least a “B” average in your senior year course work.

Notify the Office of Admissions immediately if you earn a grade below “C” in your senior year. Even one D or F may render you ineligible to the University of California. By notifying us promptly, we may be able to offer some alternate preparation that will allow you to maintain your admission.

Complete the required standardized tests and have the official results sent directly from the testing agency to UCSB’s Office of Admissions. Scores must be submitted by July 15, 2006 for the following examinations:

The SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT Assessment plus Writing.

Two SAT Subject Tests.
These must be in two different areas, chosen from the following: English literature, history and social studies, mathematics (Level 2 only), science or language other than English.

Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate results (if taken).

Send official high school transcripts (and any college transcripts, if applicable) to the Office of Admissions by July 15, 2006. High school transcripts must include the exact date of high school graduation (“class of 2006” is not acceptable).

Applicants are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all academic information they report. Inconsistency of self-reported information with actual grades and courses will result in cancellation of admission and may jeopardize future application to any campus of the University of California.

Your submission of the Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) certifies that you understand and agree to comply with the conditions of admission.

If you have questions about these conditions, please contact the Office of Admissions before submitting your SIR.

I don’t know; I always thought that the admissions officers would look at officially submitted CollegeBoard scores before making a decision. She definitely got lucky
